Step-by-Step Guide to Updating the ArkOS 2.0 Firmware on Your PIXL POCKET™ (Single and Dual SD Card Setup)

1. Preparing for the Firmware Update

Before you start, make sure you have the following:

• A microSD card (either one or two depending on your setup).
• A reliable internet connection to download the latest ArkOS 2.0 firmware.
• A computer with an SD card reader or an adapter.

2. Back Up Your Existing Data

While the firmware update process is generally safe, it's a good idea to back up your ROMs and save files before proceeding. The process differs slightly depending on your setup.

• For Single SD Card Setup: Back up both the operating system (OS) and the ROMs stored on this single card.
• For Dual SD Card Setup: You only need to back up the ROMs and save files stored on the second SD card (the card that stores your ROMs).

To back up your files:

1. Power off your PIXL POCKET™ and remove the SD card(s).
2. Insert the SD card(s) into your computer's SD card reader or adapter.
3. Navigate to the roms and saves folders on the SD card(s) and copy these files to your computer as a backup.

This ensures that if anything goes wrong during the update, you won’t lose your valuable game data.

3. Download the Latest ArkOS 2.0 Firmware

1. Visit the official ArkOS GitHub page or any trusted source where the ArkOS 2.0 firmware is hosted.
2. Download the latest version of ArkOS 2.0 firmware for the PIXL POCKET™ (make sure to download the version specifically designed for your device).
3. Once downloaded, extract the files from the compressed folder (usually in .zip format) on your computer.

4. Transferring the Firmware Update to Your SD Card

This step differs depending on your SD card setup.

• For Single SD Card Setup:

  1. Copy the firmware update files to the root directory of your single SD card, which contains both the OS and the ROMs.
  2. Ensure that the update files are not placed inside any subfolders, so the system recognizes them correctly.

• For Dual SD Card Setup:

  1. Insert the SD card that contains the operating system (this is typically the first SD card) into your computer.
  2. Copy the firmware update files onto the root directory of this SD card (the card that holds ArkOS, not the ROMs).
  3. The second SD card (containing the ROMs) does not need any updates for this process.

5. Safely Eject and Insert the SD Card(s) Back into Your PIXL POCKET™

1. Once the update files are transferred, safely eject the SD card(s) from your computer.
2. Reinsert the SD card(s) back into their respective slots in your PIXL POCKET™.

6. Running the Firmware Update on Your PIXL POCKET™

1. Power on your PIXL POCKET™.
2. Once powered on, the device should automatically detect the update files and begin the firmware update process.
3. Follow any on-screen instructions, and allow the update to run. Do not power off the device during this process.
4. Once the update is complete, your PIXL POCKET™ will either reboot automatically or prompt you to reboot.

7. Confirming the Update

After your PIXL POCKET™ restarts, navigate to the Settings menu, and check the System Information to confirm that the ArkOS 2.0 firmware has been updated to the latest version. You should see the new version number displayed.

8. Restoring Your Games and Saves

After the update, you can restore your backed-up ROMs and save files. The process differs slightly depending on your setup.

• For Single SD Card Setup:
  1. Power off your PIXL POCKET™ and remove the SD card.
  2. Insert it into your computer and copy the backed-up ROMs and save files back into their respective folders (e.g., roms and saves).
• For Dual SD Card Setup:
  1. Power off your PIXL POCKET™ and remove the second SD card (the one that contains the ROMs).
  2. Insert this second SD card into your computer and copy the backed-up ROMs and save files back into their respective folders.

After restoring your files, safely eject the SD card(s) and reinsert them into your PIXL POCKET™.

9. Enjoy Your Updated PIXL POCKET™!

Once everything is complete, you can power on your PIXL POCKET™ and enjoy the latest ArkOS 2.0 features, along with all your games and saves intact. The updated firmware will improve system performance, add new features, and ensure compatibility with new games and emulators.
